The Voice Of Ireland: Battle Week 2 Round-Up
The Battle stages continued this week on The Voice Of Ireland...
Week two of the Battle stage kicked off with Team Bressie, as Andrew Mann and Eoghan Dixon Murphy went head-to-head on Matchbox 20's ‘Push’. Bressie said that on this performance he didn’t have a lot to go on, but he takes Andrew through to the Live Shows on the strength of his Blind Audition, which if our memory serves us correct had all four judges reaching for the button.
Next up was Team Sharon as Stephen Hudson and Ciara Cox battled over James Morrison’s 'Broken Strings'. Jamelia felt that Ciara was more interesting and quirky, but Sharon chose to take Stephen through.
Karl Sheridan and Niamh O’Neill are in the same class at college but that didn’t stop coach Kian Egan putting them together to battle. Jamelia said she wouldn’t be able to choose between the two while Bressie added that he "believed Karl a little more". Karl eventually got the nod to join Team Kian for the Live Shows.
Welsh girl Kirilee Dermot and Shannon Murphy from team Bressie were given the task of tackling Sinead O’Connor’s classic 'Mandinka'. In probably the toughest decision of the night Shannon wins through, with Bressie feeling she has more potential. Jerry Fish also put Kian in his place following his declaration that 'Mandinka' isn't a good song. Sorry Kian but we're with Jerry on this one.
Next up was Gerard McLoughlin and Dean Anthony who put on the show of the night as they battled to George Michael’s 'Freedom'. Despite Gerard's eye-catching performance Sharon decides that it’s the "VOICE" of Ireland and takes Dean through to the live rounds.
The final duet came from Team Jamelia with Niamh Armstrong and Keith Hanley singing 'Underneath You’re Beautiful' by Labrynth and Emelie Sande. Bressie was on the edge of his seat, Sharon was in tears, and Jamelia eventually made the difficult decision and chose Keith to go through.
Next week there will be 6 more Battles; one from Bressie and Kian, and two from Jamelia and Sharon.
The Live Shows start on March, 17.
