The Walls: Bring on Hard Working Class Heroes 2004

Steve Wall has congratulated organisers of the recent musical extravangaza

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 12 Aug 2003

The consistently glowing reviews for the recent Bank Holiday event have continued with local indie-rock band The Walls saying "sign us up for the next Hard Working Class Heroes!"

Speaking to hotpress.com recently, the band’s frontman Steve Wall congratulated the organisers of Hard Working Class Heroes: "We really enjoyed playing the gig, I don't think we've ever played at such an event. It was great in that you had to get onstage quickly and do your thing, no one got special treatment. Everyone was in the same boat, you just went on and did your best for the allotted time.

"I must admit I expected it to be a technical nightmare but it all ran like clockwork and there were no major technical hitches rather than some fat bastard sitting on a video camera."

Wall also commented on the current state of the independent music scene in Ireland, and was pleased to have the opportunity to check out his contemporaries:

"I'd heard of some of the other bands but had only ever seen a couple. I was blown away by the overall standard, especially by some of the newer bands.

"It was also good to meet some of the new kids on the block and have an aul’ drink and a natter. I think bands have a healthier attitude towards one another these days and events like this encourage it."

The verdict seems unanimous: Bring on Hard Working Class Heroes 2004!
