U2 announce 3D concert film
Demons for new technology that they are, U2 are planning to release a 3-D Vertigo concert film, which will premiere next year.
It’s being co-directed by Mothman Prophecies and Arlington Road man Mark Pellington and Catherine Owens, the New York-based Irish woman responsible for the screen visuals on the band’s last three world tours.
The duo shot 700 hours of footage this spring as U2 swung through Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Brazil. The 3-D effects come from nine pairs of Sony Cinealta cameras that were wielded by 1MAGE Software’s Peter Anderson.
