U2 make history in Jo'burg
Over 98,000 people watched their gig last night in the FNB Stadium.

U2 created yet more history last night at their gig in Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, which attracted the largest ever crowd for a sporting or entertainment event in South Africa – and that includes the World Cup.
In excess of 98,000 fans watched as Bono sung a new lyric to ‘Pride (In The Name Of Love)’ – “February 13 1990/Words ring out in a Jo’burg sky/Free at last to live your life/The Lion of Africa and his pride…” – that paid tribute to absent friend Nelson Mandela.
There was also a shout out to Desmond Tutu, images of Egyptian people power during ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ and a guest performance from trumpeter Hugh Masekela on ‘Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’.
“The rest of the world is finally catching up to the fact that this place is the future,” noted Bono to huge roars of approval.
