Villagers top Indie charts again

Cathy Davey has held on to the number two spot, and there's new entries from Katie Melua, Stornoway and Navan man Simon Fagan

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 28 May 2010

Villagers' debut Becoming a Jackal has maintained its spot at the top of the official Indie Charts this week, with Cathy Davey's The Nameless staying put at No. 2. Katie Melua's latest offering The House has entered the chart behind the Irish trail blazers, at No. 3. This is the Georgia born singer's fourth album to date, following 2007's Pictures.

Josh Ritter's So Runs the World Away has fallen from No. 4 to No. 11, while Navan singer-songwriter Simon Fagan's debut album has entered the chart at a not-too-shabby No. 12.

Absent from last week's chart, family act Crystal Swing are back, with The Best Years of Our Lives making a reappearance at No. 16. Similarly, Julie Feeney's latest album Pages makes a re-entry, it's at No.14 this week.
