There was much surprise when RTE took the decision to axe its long-running Premier League highlights show. With the new season set to kick off this Saturday, Irish soccer fans can breathe a sigh of relief with the announcement that Setanta Ireland will screen a brand new recap show.

Premier League Central hits the screens this and every Saturday at 8.30pm with a second highlights programme running at 10.30pm on Sunday nights. Connor Morris takes the Saturday hotseat while Paul Dempsey will present the Sunday edition - though Ger Gilroy will host for the first two Sundays.

“The addition of a Premier League highlights show every Saturday and Sunday is another statement of our renewed commitment to Irish Premier League fans," says Brian Quinn, Marketing Operations Director of Setanta Spots. "When the rights became available we were determined to make sure that Irish football fans wouldn’t miss out on getting a highlights programme with an Irish angle."

Catch Connor in studio this Saturday evening alongside former Irish international Matt Holland and Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn, with former Chelsea and Spurs players, Dennis Wise and Gary Stevens pitching up next to Ger on Sunday.
