Brie admits that she came very close to walking away from the profession for good because she was unable to handle all the rejections before producers sat up and took notice of her in the Irish co-production of 'Room'.
The Oscar winner started acting at aged seven but only really hit the big time after winning the starring role in the movie adaptation of 'Room'.
"I threw in the towel a lot. A lot! I couldn’t take the ‘no’s over and over," she reveals.
"I was acting since I was seven years old and a reoccurring problem I used to have was never fitting the mould of what they were after. I was never fully right, I was never that desired package, I wasn’t pretty enough, I wasn’t plain enough, and I found myself so many times, getting so close and hitting that wall," she recalls.
Brie insists that it was her passion for acting and not money or fame that attracted her to it in the first place.
"I never ever wanted to work on something for the money and that got me into trouble," she states.
Brie, who is still pinching herself after her Oscar win, paints a picture of herself as a starving artist before hitting the big time.
"At one point, I did three independent films, had the most amazing experiences and didn’t get paid a cent," she explains.
"I didn’t have anything to my name. And that happened a few times where I would find myself down to the last dollar, backed up against a wall, ready to quit and the next day, something would come up and I would be saved. This wasn’t even that long ago."
But then the door was opened to mega success with 'Room' and the rest, as they say, is history.
