Indiependence Music & Arts Festival has dropped an early Christmas present for fans by revealing the first names for Indie18.
Some of Ireland’s biggest and best live acts join some new faces on this initial announcement.
Having cemented their place as one of country's successful bands with a string of singles and a hugely successful debut album, Walking on Cars are the first to be announced. They've come a long way since playing in the Beer Hall at INDIE14.
They head up a strong Irish contingent that already features Le Galaxie, King Kong Company, HamsandwicH, The Blizzards, Le Boom, Wild Youth and 1000 Beasts.
INDIE18 will also welcome UK indie folk legend Jake Bugg, Mercury Prize nominees Everything Everything, Brit Pop legends Cast and one of the UK’s hottest rising stars, Tom Grennan.
The festival will also feature some big dance names, including Sigala and Mylo. Mylo has remixed tracks from Scissors Sisters, Amy Winehouse, The Killers and The Knife, to name a few, while Sigala’s track ‘Easy Love’ hit Number 1 in the UK singles chart and has amassed over 300m views on YouTube alongside ‘Sweet Lovin'.

“We will be announcing a lot more acts in 2018,” said organiser Shane Dunne, “but wanted to give Indie fans something to look forward to before Christmas. Thanks to everyone who has bought tickets so far and we look forward to sharing some really big names with you in the new year.”
Since the first festival in 2006, Indiependence has grown into one of Ireland’s biggest and most loved events, drawing international acts like Basement Jaxx, Public Enemy, De La Soul and Editors to play alongside the best names in Irish music, in the scenic foothills of the Galtee Mountains.
