Simply Red are coming to Dublin for a special show at the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks on Friday, August 26, as part of the Wider Than Pictures gig series – and to celebrate, we're giving away tickets!
Simply Red have garnered over a billion hits on YouTube, and have sold over 60 million albums worldwide. Five of their albums have been chart-toppers in the UK, while their 1991 classic Stars was the best-selling album for two years running in the UK and Europe.
Mick Hucknall has been the songwriter and bandleader since the beginning in 1985, aided since 1986 by long-serving saxophonist Ian Kirkham. The current line-up of Simply Red has remained consistent since 2003 – and their upcoming show in Dublin will play to the core strengths of this fantastic band.
“I want them to enjoy playing, for crowds to get up and move around, and everybody to put their heart into it," says Hucknall. "It’s all about capturing the groove. I’ve spent most of my life going out and singing for people, and it has felt strange not to have that for such a long time. It’s wonderfully inspiriting that people can go and see bands again now, and I can’t wait to get back on stage.”
