As part of the brand new gig series Galway Summer Sessions, The Waterboys are gearing up for a major show at Galway Airport on Monday, August 19 – and we've got a pair of tickets up for grabs!
Fronted by Scottish singer, songwriter and guitarist Mike Scott since the mid '80s, The Waterboys have evolved through countless line-ups over the years – earning a serious live reputation along the way. The 2024 version of The Waterboys features double keyboard players Brother Paul from Memphis and James Hallawell from London, as well as an epic Irish rhythm section made up of Aongus Ralston (bass) and Eamon Ferris (drums).
Together, they reconfigure music from all stages of the band's career, from the early "big music" and the roots-inspired Fisherman's Blues era, to the run of genre-transcending records that have poured out since 2015's Modern Blues.
Kicking off next month, Galways Summer Sessions is made up of ten star-studded gigs – featuring the likes of Fatboy Slim, Pixies, Madness, Belters Only, The Coronas and more.
