The 2019 concert movie filmed sessions featuring Ireland's top musicians in Whelans; from Glen Hansard, Hudson Taylor, Mundy and Róisín O to Danny O'Reilly, Gavin James and Eoin Glackin.
Acclaimed Christmas documentary-gig We Will Sing will be released this Christmas in aid of the Simon Community and the Peter McVerry Trust.
Ireland’s finest musicians stayed on in Whelan’s after closing time last Christmas Eve, when Dublin shut down and everyone left the city, with a beautiful musical result titled We Will Sing.
Irish-born, London-based director Scott Altman filmed the mother of all impromptu sessions with Glen Hansard, Danny O’Reilly, Gavin James, Hudson Taylor, Gabrielle Aplin, Stephen James Smith, Emma Wigglesworth, Mark Geary, Matthew Devereux, Eoin Glackin, Róisín O, Mundy and more.
Glen Hansard performed the Oscar-winning song 'Falling Slowly' with a string quartet and an all-star cast.
Self-penned songs were delivered along with numbers by Springsteen, Cohen, Mitchell and others, while the linguistic mastery of spoken word artist Stephen James Smith also shone.
We Will Sing is an up-close full-length gig of Irish all-stars, amongst whom an unspoken musical understanding and an unmistakable Christmas spirit abounds.
