Gardaí are holding a potential suspect from Blanchardstown for questioning.
In a Dublin hostel for unhoused individuals, a 24-year-old man was attacked and later died yesterday morning.
Jamie Kavanagh is the victim's name, as revealed by sources close to the crime scene, with the gardaí currently in the midst of a murder investigation.
Garda were called to the hostel at 4:45am, where the victim was sent to St James’s Hospital, but the wounds were too severe and the 24-year-old later died of his injuries.
24-year-old South Co Dublin native was staying in the hostel on Harrington Street which houses unhoused men. Kavanagh lived in the Rathfarnham and Lucan areas.
The incident occurred early in the morning when the 24-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times.
In the hostel is a broken window on the top floor, but it has not been confirmed to be linked to the crime at the time of writing. Kavanagh and the alleged killer both lived in separate rooms of the accommodation.

It is understood that then alleged attacker is known to the Gardai and is currently being held at Kevin Street station where he can be detained for up to 24 hours for questioning.
Spokesperson for the Gardaí said, “Gardaí are investigating a fatal assault on a man that occurred in the early hours of this morning. At approximately 4.45am, gardai received reports of a male, 20s, with serious injuries at the location.”
The suspect also received medical attention from a doctor at Kevin Street station.
The Garda spokesperson also mentioned, “Gardaí are appealing to any person who has information that can assist with this investigation to contact Kevin Street garda station on 01 666 9400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.”
Family and friends of James 'Kavo' Kavanagh are heartbroken by the news.
