John O’Callaghan’s second artist album is due for release on Armada in May, and the trance producer tells Hot Press he’s quietly confident of success. “There’s already some nice hype building for it. I’m really happy with the end result and to top things off some of the remixes coming in are really making it an exciting bundle of tunes. “
Earlier this month, John played the main stage at the world-renowned Trance Energy festival in Utrecht alongside Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren.
The Dutch event is one of the biggest on the global trance calendar, and O’Callaghan’s headline slot on the main stage shows just how far the Navan native has come in the past year.
The world’s number 62 DJ was also chosen to compile and mix one half of this year’s Trance Energy album (along with Rank 1), which is released this fortnight through Rough Trade Records in the UK and Ireland.
North-west DJ and producer Jason Young makes his debut on Donegal’s Full Tilt stamp next month with the masterful progressive electro epic ‘Opus’. Among the superb set of mixes is an electro stomper from Latvian ace Matthew Nagle.
Tralee DJ and producer-to-watch Jonno Brien has had his forthcoming ‘Be Alright’ single licensed to Dutch ace Marco V’s new compilation album Unfold 3 on Fektive.
The tenth release from Al Keegan’s Aciitone Digital is out this month. Kid Handsome’s Bipolarity EP is the first of three EPs lined up this year from the young Dubliner.
The next outing from burgeoning Belfast stamp Division Music is Sick Joke ft Droo’s big room electro house anthem ‘Freak Show’.
Droo is a fast rising star of the Northern Irish circuit and has already finished work on his debut album with co-producer and engineer Graeme Laverty.
Judge Jules has been caning the new single from Belfast’s DJ Mog. ‘Searchin’ is forthcoming on Mog’s Ego imprint and features the vocal talents of Mark le Sal.
Irish tech-trance ace Bryan Kearney has been booked to play the Sunrise Festival in Poland for the second year running. And it’s no surprise as the Dubliner’s 2008 set has been voted the best of the festival. ‘Carnage’ will be presented with his trophy at this year’s event, which runs from July 24 to 26 in Kolobrzeg.
Techno legend Richie Hawtin is playing the newly revamped Ulster Hall on Easter Monday April 13. Support comes from Matthew Dear and Phil Kieran… THE BEAT GOES ON!
