This is an intimate and magical evening filled with screaming, running, horror, mutilation, death and more running. Watch as Aileen, armed with nothing but a flame thrower, battles with herself, the crew and a 7 foot Xenomorph! "In space no-one gives a shit!"
Venom & Duct Tape, founded by theatre makers Emma Moohan and Gertrude Montgomery, have announced the opening of their debut production, Aileen, a comedy-horror parody inspired by the 1979 cult-classic film Alien.
A magical evening filled with screaming, running, horror, mutilation, death and more running, Aileen comes to Smock Alley Theatre from 12th-17th August.
The production centres on Aileen Ripely, last survivor of The Nostromo, signing on. The main character has spent the last 57 years locked in stasis and drifting through the cosmos, but now must face the consequences of her actions.
Meet the two faces of Aileen: The brazenly confident warrant officer and the vulnerable survivor under threat. Behold the ramblings of her internal monologue as the extraterrestrial events unfold on the Nostromo.
Jumping from fellow crew member to crew member, a contentious work environment starts to take shape, revealing dramatic betrayals and, well, dangerous liaisons.
The core action shifts from heroic feats to the controlled and fraught deposition process, as Aileen desperately tries to save her career, her sanity and her cat.
