"When I saw the finished piece, I had to ask if I could use it as the official video."
Dublin-based singer-songwriter Oisín Leahy Furlong – under his Anamoe Drive moniker – has released a video for his debut single 'Goodbye & Goodluck'.
Produced by Brendan McGlynn, who Furlong credits with teasing the song out of itself, 'Goodbye & Goodluck' was meant to be the first in a series of phone recordings Anamoe Drive would release. "Shedding its throwaway aesthetic, it ended up with a much more realised sound than I had initially intended," Furlong says of the track.
The video was directed by Julie Weber, who said: "When I first listened to Goodbye & Goodluck, I played it on repeat for a day. Oisín had perfectly summarised a personal situation with every verse and it felt right to respond to that feeling. I then saw a larger narrative within it having been on both sides, it’s not an uncommon story – the manifestation and progression into something stoical."
"I had a lot of Anamoe Drive touring and recording plans axed this year due to Covid-19," Furlong says, "so was very happy when Julie asked if she could use my song as part of an exhibition she was putting on."
