Arrested alongside his brother Tristan, the online influencer has been charged with rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
British-American online influencer Andrew Tate was detained in Romania yesterday after being issued an arrest warrant by British authorities, according to his spokesperson.
Tate, 37, and his younger brother Tristan Tate, 35, were brought into Romanian custody last night on allegations of “sexual aggression” from a UK case dating back to 2012-2015.
Later today, the Bucharest Court of Appeal will decide whether or not to execute the warrants provided by Westminster Magistrates Court, which Police say consist of “two European arrest warrants issued by the UK judicial authorities for the committing of sexual offense, of exploitation of persons on the territory of the UK.”
The Tate brothers have also been charged with rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women in a separate case following their 2022 arrest alongside two Romanian women in Bucharest. All four denied the allegations and were formally indicted in June of last year.

“This bewildering revival of decade-old accusations has left the Tate brothers dismayed and deeply troubled,” read a statement from the brothers’ representative. “They categorically reject all charges and express profound disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence.
“The Tate brothers assert that the timing and circumstances surrounding the reappearance of these allegations raise serious questions about the motives behind this legal action. The suggestion that Mr. Tate’s rise to fame may have played a role in these developments adds another layer of distress and concern.”
