The Grammy winning songwriter announced details of her next album after sharing the video for lead single, 'Phoenix'.
Irish-American singer-songwriter Aoife O'Donovan announced today that she will be releasing her third solo album, Age of Apathy, on January 21, 2022.
The album was produced by Grammy winner Joe Henry and mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer Darren Schneider. Alongside bassist David Piltch and drummer Jay Bellerose, it features Allison Russell and Madison Cunningham.
Following this news, the exceptional folk musician released a video for the album's lead track, 'Phoenix' - a soaring song about resilience and a sense of possibility.
“I remember writing 'Phoenix' late at night in my sunroom,” says O’Donovan. “It was in early February of this year — a gorgeous Florida winter night — and I came across the first line of the song, all alone, in an old note on my computer. Late 2020 and early 2021 brought a wave of clarity and inspiration after a very difficult period of creative malaise, and 'Phoenix' is truly an ode to my own muse.”
Directed by photographer Omar Cruz, the video finds Aoife in a gorgeous desert landscape, embracing the open skies and windswept landscape.

Aoife O'Donovan has led an experienced music career, best known as the lead vocalist for the string band Crooked Still and co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning female folk outfit I’m with Her. In 2019, the trio won a Grammy Award for Best American Roots Song for their song 'Call My Name'.
In November 2012, Aoife signed a deal with Yep Roc Records. 'Red & White & Blue & Gold' was released in 2013 ahead of her full-length debut album, Fossils. Brooklyn-based Aoife released her solo string quartet EP, Bullfrog's Croon (and Other Songs), last year.
