Windows 8 has an appetite for destruction, on account of a bunch of new foodie apps. BING FOOD & DRINK app dishes up a load of recipes from online publishers, food bloggers and popular cookbooks.
The app includes a wine encyclopaedia with information on over 1.5 million bottles of vino. Using the touchless gesture controls on Windows 8.1 devices, you can even browse recipes with getting flour prints all over the touchscreen. Bon appetit.
Fancy a tipple? Then check out Windows 8 app COCKTAIL FLOW, which not only has recipes, but can knock something together after you input your available ingredients.
America’s kitchen queen Martha Stewart is the brains behind the EVERYDAY FOOD app, also for Windows 8. Recipes, tips and techniques, are all on board. The food photography alone will have you drooling like a Labrador over a bowel of Pedigree Chum.

BBC encores with music app
The BBC might be better known for Top of the Pops than digital music products, but the UK broadcaster is launching an app that lets you create playlists, before exporting them to Spotify, You Tube and Deezer. Users log tunes they hear on the BBC and follow playlists from DJ’s, radio stations and TV programmes. You’ll also be able to check out hand-picked content across the BBC, from Zane Lowe’s Hottest Records of 2013, to tracks from Later with ... Jools Holland, to Glastonbury coverage. The BBC’s Playlister app is available on PC and via a mobile browser and will be added to other devices in the near future.
