The award-winning Arlo Parks has recently performed as the opening act for artists such as Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Clairo.
After already releasing two tracks from her forthcoming album My Soft Machine, UK singer-songwriter Arlo Parks shared fresh offering 'Blades' today.
Her latest single sounds different from her others and goes in a more upbeat direction. Parks said: "I wanted to make something that I can dance to, because I feel like my songs don‘t really have that quality in general."
Her second studio album, My Soft Machine, is slated for release on May 26th. Lead single, 'Weightless', and the track called 'Impurities' were released a few months ago. Both songs are highly acclaimed and give a first taste of what to expect from the singer‘s new album.
Parks explained that 'Blades' is about "this moment at a party where you see someone across the room that you haven‘t seen in a while [and] you felt yourself growing apart [until] you find the courage to approach them."

In the song, Parks ends up wondering if she should approach the person and what the consequences might be. Its chorus goes: "Hope you know that I, I just don't know what to do / 'Cause I only want to be with you / I just miss your voice / Say you‘ve been alright / Callin‘ when you‘re lonely, late at night."
Starting on May 24, Arlo Parks will tour the world, playing gigs in Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the Netherlands, as well as some shows in the UK and Ireland.
She will perform at Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre on September 5th, 2023 as part of her My Soft Machine Tour.
