A night of music, dance, mime, Brechtian performance and more will take place as part of the Dublin Bowie Festival.
Taking place on the third anniversary of Bowie's death, Thursday, January 10th, Cabaret 19's "Bowie 19" will feature a range of performances by top artists celebrating the Starman's life and works.
The Grand Social will be transformed for the night with café seating, candlelight, and a magical theatre atmosphere, for a night of all things Bowie hosted by acclaimed author Helena Mulkerns, and accompanied by Dublin composer Josh Johnson on piano.
Filmmaker and musician, Brendan McCarthy will provide a showstopping rendition of one of Bowie's most iconic hit, while Miss Burlesque Ireland, Bella A GoGo will dazzle with a unique interpretation of what is deemed to be Bowie's last song. Meanwhile, Lykan Animal will present a medley of songs focusing on the mime, burlesque and sensuality found throughout some of Bowie's best-loved numbers.
Other highlights include a short satirical film by Dan Finn and two spoken word performances by "Cursed Murphy" (aka author Peter Murphy) and Mia Gallagher.
The night will be presented by Cabaret 19, who have been producing work since their inception in 2009 under the name Cáca Milis Cabaret. Now, taking on the New Year with a new name, Cabaret 19 will continue this tradition of showcasing new and established artists, and providing a platform for innovative and exciting talent through a shared love for Cabaret.
