The selected artist will also receive a monthly fee of €2000, a materials budget of up to €5000, and a stipend of €1500 to be spent on the artist's own training/mentorship.
Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is inviting professional artists to apply for its new Friendship Residency in Dun Laoghaire Baths, launched in partnership with St John of God (SJOG) Dublin South East Services and Enable Ireland.
The 12-month studio residency, which is set to begin in September 2024, is described as a "celebration of mutual trust and support", and will offer the selected artist an opportunity to create art with people with physical and intellectual disabilities – as well as space and time to focus on their own work.
The residency includes full access to Studio 4 in Dun Laoghaire Baths; a monthly fee of €2,000 to support the artist's practice; a materials budget of up to €5,000; a stipend of €1,500 to allow the artist to develop their collaborative arts practice through training or mentorship; and staff support for sessions with participants from Enable Ireland and SJOG Dublin South East.
The Friendship Residency is open to professional artists – with applications particularly welcomed from those who "have experience in creating art with people and ideally with people with disabilities." Artists who work together are also invited to apply.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, July 11, at 12pm. You can find more information here.
