Singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne has released a cover of 'Hello' and an acoustic version of 'Love Sux' as part of Spotify Singles.
Pop-rock superstar Avril Lavigne has released a cover of Adele's iconic 25 track 'Hello' as part of the Spotify Singles collection.
The cover, released on June 24, comes coupled with an acoustic version of the Canadian singer's 'Love Sux'.
Avril Lavigne's take on Adele's 2015 powerhouse track sees the classic into a melodic alt-rock gem, full of passion and soul. The powerful instrumentation adds a surprising twist to this usually clean-cut tune. In a complete contrast, the newly released acoustic version of 'Love Sux' comprises a drop of high energy electric guitar and heavy drums in place of soft acoustic guitar and soft percussion.
In a press release, the 'Complicated' singer spoke about the releases, saying: "I love Adele’s song ‘Hello’ and have been dying to do a cover of it. The ‘Spotify Singles’ sessions were a fun opportunity to finally do this cover as well as reimagine my own song ‘Love Sux’ as an acoustic version."
Prior to the release of these singles, the 37-year-old Belleville native dropped a deluxe edition of her debut album Let Go in honour of its 20th anniversary. The deluxe edition, released earlier this month, features a new version of 'Breakaway'.
In celebration of Let Go, Irish alt-folk singer Ailbhe Reddy has organised the "AVRIL LAVIGNE - 20 YEARS OF LET GO" gig, with a slew of fantastic Irish acts performing.

The concert will raise much needed funds for Red Cross Ukraine. The tribute gig takes place on June 30 and will feature the organiser Ailbhe Reddy, May Kay, Pillow Queens, Soak, Maria Kelly, Sorcha Richardson, Emma Langford, Laoise, Roisin O, Sinead White, Havvk, and more. The show will take place in The Workman's Club and tickets can be found here.
Avril Lavigne released her seventh studio album Love Sux in February of this year.
