The 68-year-old actor, probably best known in recent times for his roles in 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.', 'Sin City', and 'The Avengers', died in his sleep from natural causes on Sunday morning
Born in Texas, Powers Boothe was a respected characters actor who had 69 credits to his name, according to IMDb. He had the starring role in Irish-based film director John Boorman's movie 'The Emerald Forest'.
Movies buffs will also remember him for his roles in the likes of 'Con Air', 'Tombstone', Oliver Stone's 'U Turn', 'Red Dawn', and 'Southern Comfort'.
Boothe won an Emmy for lead actor in a limited series or special for playing cult leader Jim Jones in CBS' Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones back in 1980.
His close friend, actor Beau Bridges, brother of Jeff Bridges, took to Twitter to break the sad news late last night. "It's with great sadness that I mourn the passing of my friend Powers Boothe. A dear friend, great actor, devoted father & husband," he wrote in his tribute.
