US-based music sharing website Bandcamp has announced they are donating all proceeds made this Friday, August 4, to the country's Transgender Law Center.
The TLC is a civil rights organisation based in California that advocates for the transgender community. They fight for trans veterans to secure healthcare, support trans immigrants, and support trans youth among other things.
“Bandcamp is a platform for artistic expression, and all manner of variance in experience and identity, including gender and sexuality, is welcome here,” the company said in a release. “We support our LGBT+ users and staff, and we stand against any person or group that would see them further marginalised.”
"That this announcement was motivated in part to help fund the border wall exposes it as part of the administration’s cynical, discriminatory agenda," they added, referencing reports that Trump had tweeted his decision to ban transgender people from military service because Republicans couldn't agree on the issue, and funding for the President's promised wall was contained in the same piece of legislation.

The company also added a lengthy list of music on their site created by trans and gender non-conforming artists.
Bandcamp held a fundraiser for the American Civil Liberties Union earlier this year when the Trump administration issued an executive order blocking migrants from several Muslim-majority countries.
