Irish rock quartet The Florentinas make their formal introduction to the music scene with an energetic, guitar heavy first single.
Irish alternative rock outfit The Florentinas have released their first headbanging single 'Sandcastles.'
The four-piece band from Bangor, Co. Down - made up of Paddy, Jacob, Luke and Jakob - was formed in 2019. After quickly making a name for themselves in the Belfast circuit, they joined up with Snow Patrol's frontman Gary Lightbody’s artist development and management company, Third Bar. In 2020 they signed a major publishing deal with BMG in London.
Earlier this year the group made their first television appearance on BBC Northern Ireland's 'Sounds New' and have since recorded live sessions for Open House Festival and the Oh Yeah Music Centre. Next month, the quartet will support Nothing But Thieves in the Ulster Hall (November 7th) and in Dublin's 3Olympia (November 9th).
Citing Two Door Cinema Club and Nothing But Thieves as inspiration, the group displays its mastery over the genre with meaty guitar riffs and a punchy drum beat. 'Sandcasltes' wistful vocals and high energy instrumental perfectly encapsulate the bittersweet subject of the song.
"I guess the song is about relationships we experience as people, not in a romantic sense but rather a much broader sense," the band said. "Relationships are something that we encounter on a daily basis and that essentially shape us.

"It’s natural that as we develop, relationships end as people mature and outgrow each other, and sometimes the easiest thing to do is to reminisce these periods in life rather than forcibly restore a relationship that is no longer there."
