The band's EP will be released later this year.
BARQ are back, finally, with a brand new single called 'Thanks for The Night'. The self-described 'agrosoul' group, spearheaded by singer-songwriter Jess Kav, have put together a funky, bass-driven, irresistibly catchy tune. It's got an infectious hook, and a tinge of disco.
The track is about excess, says Jess, who posted on the band's Instagram Thursday evening to share her experience writing the song. "'Thanks For The Night' is about a love affair with excess," she wrote. "Seeing it as a one night stand and not a toxic relationship I invest in everyday. But the extreme ways in which I thought of excess made me believe I was a disciple of it. Devoid of agency. I think I've gotten some agency back. Sometimes paper thin, sometimes enough to rest an assurance on. Sometimes I just need to breathe but other times I need 5 Guinness with 2 whiskey chasers and some rollies and some tears and a hug. I think we all fucking do right now".
After their first single of 2020 'I'm Blaming You' was used in an Audi trailer, BARQ are gearing up to release their EP later this year. Listen to 'Thanks for the Night' below.
