The recorded damage to instruments and music gear in Beirut currently adds up to $34,935.
Tunefork Studios in Beirut, founded by Lebanese producer and musician Fadi Tabbal, have launched a new campaign to raise funds for the instruments, music gear and recording equipment lost during the devastating explosion in the city this month.
Through contacting musicians, producers and sound engineers living in the blast area, the organisers of the Beirut Musicians' Fund have created an inventory of all music gear that was destroyed – with damages currently adding up to $34,935. As part of their fundraiser, Tunefork Studios have pledged to divide all donations proportionally between those affected.
"As you all know, our entire community is shaken by the horrific explosion at the port of Beirut on August 4th," the organisers stated on their website. "Reasons: the incompetence, negligence and corruption of our own government. Countless lives lost. Countless houses destroyed. We are hurt, both physically and emotionally."
All sales from the The Rupture Sessions Volume 6 - For Beirut, available on Bandcamp, are going to the Beirut Musicians' Fund. The release is made up of live versions of songs by Lebanese artists Alko B, The Incompetents, Kinematik and more, as well as never-before-released tracks by Charlie Rayne, Cosmic Analog Ensemble, and El Rass & Munma – recorded by Fadi Tabbal between October 2011 and August 2019.
