"A huge honour and privilege to be able to have an opportunity like this in this phase of my career," Beta has remarked. "I’m very thankful to those who have trusted me enough to present a massive & important show like this."
Presenter Beta Da Silva is taking over RTÉ 2FM's Drive show "for the next while" – replacing Lottie Ryan and David O'Reilly, who've been temporarily presenting the drivetime slot since the departure of The 2 Johnnies earlier this summer.
Beta is well-known as the host of The New Music Show on 2FM, having previously presented Weekend Breakfast on the station. He kicked off his career at the broadcaster in 2017, on RTÉ Pulse.
Sharing the news on his Instagram today, Beta described this latest chapter in his career as a " huge honour and privilege".
"I’m very thankful to those who have trusted me enough to present a massive & important show like this," he continued.
"So many highlights in the last few years that I can’t forget; Overnight shows, Weekend Breakfast, presenting from EP live, presenting Choice Music Prize live, covering for OG Tracy’s show & most memorably, being able to contribute & shine a light on Irish music in the country & beyond. Very surreal that I get to add another to the list. All these things have lead me to where I’m at today & I’m very grateful."

He went on to note that, despite the fact he's moving into a new role, "the music doesn't stop".
"We’re keeping it going on 2FM Drive as you make your way home in the car," he wrote. "This one’s for all the music lovers & we’ve got loads of special shit lined up for yous all. We thank God...
"That baby boy from Pulse wouldn’t believe this shit at all."
Other RTÉ presenters, such as Tracy Clifford, have congratulated Beta in the comments under his post – while artists like Jafaris, Erica Cody, Aby Coulibaly, Aonair, Flynn Johnson and Tebi Rex's Matt Ó have also expressed support.
You can listen to 2FM Drive with Beta Da Silva Mondays to Fridays, 3-6pm.
