The former US President may have been accused of resorting to fiction when questioned about his affair with Monica Lewinsky during his time in the Oval Office... but he has now decided to actually write a novel!
They say you should always write about what you know best.... and Bill Clinton is certainly taking that old adage to heart by penning a novel about the US Presidency.
It has been revealed that he is co-authoring a blockbuster with best-selling author James Patterson, who is his golfing buddy.
It was revealed last night that the book will be entitled 'The President Is Missing' and will be published early next year.
"Working on a book about a sitting President — drawing on what I know about the job, life in the White House, and the way Washington works — has been a lot of fun. And working with Jim has been terrific. I've been a fan of his for a very long time," said Bill Clinton.
James Patterson, who has written some 50 books and sold over a staggering 300million copies, has described working on the novel with the former US President as the "highlight of my career".
He added that "having access to his first-hand experience has uniquely informed the writing of this novel".
Patterson also revealed, "I'm a storyteller and President Clinton's insight has allowed us to tell a really interesting one. It's a rare combination — readers will be drawn to the suspense, of course, but they'll also be given an inside look into what it's really like to be President."
The novel is due to be published in June 2018 by Knopf and Little, Brown and Co.
