Billie Eilish Is New Streaming Sensation in Ireland
Known to her parents as Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell, the 16-year-old Los Angelean has topped 132 million streams on Spotify, with Ireland contributing a whopping 15 million of that total…
Teenage sensation, Billy Eilish seems set to tear up the record books! When the young LA-born singer released her debut single 'Ocean Eyes' in 2016, both she and it became an instant viral hit. Her subsequent North American tour went on to sell out in under a minute, and her current single has earned over 49 million views on Youtube and 158 combined global streams.
Further afield, Billie became the first international artist to be awarded a Brit Breakthrough Award in the UK for her debut EP. She is also the youngest artist to ever get listed in the BBC Radio 1 Sound Polls.
It's fair to say she is fast becoming a global sensation.
And a good share of that is down to her Irish fans, who have taken to her Irish music even more enthusiastically than the US or the UK.
Her debut EP Don't Smile at Me reached the Top 20 in the Irish charts – and within the space of a month, her Irish listenership has multiplied, racking up a grand total of 15 million streams across all of her released tracks including 'Lovely', 'Idontwannabeyourlover', 'Bellyache' and her most recent single 'When the Party's Over'.
What's more, her record company Universal Music point out that half of her streams have come from specific searches (rather than being recommended or deriving from playlists etc), showing just how in demand Eilish is.

And with her biggest hit to date, it's not hard to see why...
Moreover, yesterday, Eilish released a beautiful new holiday single, 'Come Out And Play', which seems certain to add further to her record-breaking achievements. Fans here will doubtless be wondering when the young star – who is of Irish-Scottish background – will play her first dates in Ireland. In the meantime, have a listen to 'Come Out and Play'...
