Florence Welch may well have delivered the most appropriately-named book of the year. Useless Magic is a collection of 'lyrics and poetry'. Florence has written four albums-worth of songs - Lungs, Ceremonials, How Big How Blue How Beautiful and High As Hope - and here, her lyrics are laid out on the page.
This might be deemed 'useless' by some, considering that a quick Google search would bring up the lyrics on your phone. However, they're far more pleasurably appreciated sitting between photographs, artwork and pages from Welch's scrapbooks.
Stripped from instruments and production, the bones of these songs take on new life and find common ground with Welch's poetry. This is where the 'magic' lies.

A must for Florence fans and people who love poetry, art and lovely, pretty things.
