Movie executive Peter Dunne is the son of Irish author and playwright Lee Dunne, but until now he hasn’t followed in his father’s literary footsteps. As his 50th birthday approached, he decided to write a series of letters exploring the “social mores and morality of our time” in a bid to answer for his three children “the eternal questions that line the path to peace of mind.”
The letters sought to offer advice to some of life’s myriad challenges, so that if they ever needed to know what he might have to say on a particular subject, it would be written down for them. However, the wisdom Dunne is imparting here isn’t just for his children. From grief, tolerance and religion to sex, relationships and parenthood, he hits the nail on the head every time.
All told, it’s a warm, funny and non-judgmental guide to life. I’d imagine his children think he’s a brilliant dad.
