The Wexford Festival Opera will be running from the 21st of October through the sixth of November, featuring 17 days of music.
The Wexford Festival Opera (WFO) is returning to the National Opera House this autumn. In its 71st year running, the event will host 17 days of music — from the 21st of October through the sixth of November. Public booking is now open, here.
With a theme of Magic & Music, the 2022 WFO is set to boast an incredible lineup of shows. Three main stage operas — La Tempesta, Lalla Roukh and Armida — running over four nights; a version of Cinderella written by 17-year-old composer Alma Elizabeth Deutscher; The Selenites, a special commissioned opera by WFO artist-in-residence Conor Mitchell and more make up the roster, characterising this year as one of the most exciting yet.
Joining the programme are two Pocket Opera: The Master, based on Colm Tóibín's award winning novel, and The Spectre by Alfred Cellier. A Gala concert with Mezzo Soprano Daniela Barcellona and a Concert featuring Barry Douglas will also bring the magic, alongside a series of multi-disciplinary recitals around town.
Fostering local talent, the III° edition of the Wexford Factory will also be supported by the festival. Open to Irish or Irish-based singers, the professional development academy allows young performers to be fostered by some of the best artists and coaches the world — and often serves as a springboard for their careers.
