Bray was named one of the world's hidden gems by the global magazine.
In an article published yesterday, global magazine TimeOut rated Bray in Co. Wicklow the world's 13th most underrated travel destination.
According to TimeOut writers and editors, Bray stands among the ranks of Vermont, Mongolia and Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico – destinations the travel guide contends are "great alternatives to popular spots in the same regions."
Writer Stephen Emms highlights Bray for its "mile long Victorian seafront" which now "buzzes with cafés and restaurants."
The publication also gives perspective tourists varying recommendations within the town, from walking trips to pubs and beaches.
"Stroll from the harbour along the esplanade to the 800-foot high Bray Head," the article states, adding "refuel at Butler & Barry on the beach, before a Guinness at ace local institution the Harbour Bar."

TimeOut define an "underrated" destination as "places that don't regularly appear on top travel lists", "places that don't get their fair share of tourism", and "places that are legitimate hidden gems, off-the-tourist-trail, or offer great (or quiet) alternatives to popular spots in the same region."
The No.1 location on its list of underrated travel destinations was Mongolia, followed by Lake Bacalar in Mexico (No.2), Cuenca in Ecuador (No.3), Srebrenik in Bosnia and Herzegovina (No. 4), and Cabo Rojo in Puerto Rico (No. 5).
