One of Northern Irelands favourite voices, Brian Kennedy will perform in Mayo for an unforgettable performance on October 9th.
Veteran musician Brian Kennedy is slated to play the Royal Theatre Castlebar, Mayo this Saturday, and you absolutely don't want to miss this show.
Initially coming to prominence as a member of fellow Belfast native Van Morrison’s touring band, Brian Kennedy is one of Ireland’s most celebrated solo talents – appearing as the featured vocalist in Riverdance on Broadway; performing at George Best’s funeral and featuring as a coach on the first series of The Voice of Ireland.
Kennedy came to prominence after appearing on a number of Morrison's albums, including A Night in San Francisco, Days Like This, The Healing Game and Back on Top and live in concert. Around this time, he also scored success in the UK and Ireland with album of his own: The Great War of Words (1990).
In the mid 1990s, pop manager Simon Fuller took on Kennedy, signing him to RCA Records for his second solo album which saw more success. Released in 1996, the album, A Better Man, reached No.19 in the UK and spawned the hit singles 'A Better Man', 'Life Love and Happiness' and 'Put the Message in a Box', which also all became top 20 hits in Ireland. This was followed in 1999 by Now That I Know What I Want.
Later, Kennedy represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 with 'Every Song is a Cry for Love'. The track reached No. 4 in the Irish charts, while he landed in 10th place overall. After working on The Voice of Ireland, Brian started presenting a weekly programme on radio station Tipp FM in 2018.
In 2019 Brian completed a five-month chemotherapy chapter and was given the all-clear as cancer-free after battling the disease throughout his career since 2016. During this time, he wrote new songs which reflected on his incredible journey, including the EP - titled 'Recovery'.

He performed these new songs for the first time at the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and then recorded and co-wrote the song 'Things Are Gonna Change' with Boy George in April 2020.
Kennedy's sure-to-be moving performance this Saturday at the Royal Theatre Castlebar will feature a range of his previous hits and back catalogue numbers, plus some brilliant new material.
