The latest exhibition from renowned Dublin artist Brian Palm opens on Culture Night for a special evening with live music, refreshments and discussions about the artist's new work, VERNACULAR.
A new exhibition by Irish-American artist Brian Palm opens in Dublin City Centre next week.
The series of artworks, titled VERNACULAR, boasts Palm's distinct combination of oil paint and collage in an homage to the local and regional architecture of Dublin.
As such, the title of this exhibition not only refers to the structural fabric comprising many of Dublin's neighbourhoods, but also references the particular language often spoken within those communities. Local Dublin slang or ‘The Ben Lang’ developed independently in the capital and remains an esoteric form of conversation to this day.

His 2023 exhibition 'Fragments From Life' in the Sean O'Casey Theatre was a success at the O'Casey Festival, and in 2022 the artist held a triumphant watercolour exhibition titled 'Propagated Palms', a unique presentation of work Palm created with other artist in the Ireland Institute in 2021.
VERNACULAR will be shown in the Duke Street Gallery, marking Palm's first solo exhibition at the gallery since his show 'Cognitive Dissonance' in 2021, which explored social isolation and dislocation in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
VERNACULAR comes to Duke Street Gallery from 20th September and will run until 10th October. The exhibition will be open to the public and admission is free.
On the opening night, 20 Sep, the gallery will host a special evening to showcase the exhibition from 5pm.
