Britney's return to music comes as she continues to battle her father, Jamie Spears, in court.
Britney Spears will return to the music scene with a collaboration with Sir Elton John, it has been confirmed. While details of the collaboration are limited, a spokesperson confirmed to PA news agency that the track will be titled 'Hold Me Closer': a new version of John’s 1971 single, 'Tiny Dancer'.
Rumours of a duet between the two artists have been circulating for several weeks, but the first official confirmation came on Monday, when Elton John posted an image of a rose and rocket emoji alongside the words “Hold Me Closer” to his Instagram account.

While the rocket emoji appears to reference Elton and his hit song 'Rocket Man,' Britney has become associated with the rose emoji after she began using it in several of her social media posts throughout her conservatorship battle.

Her 13 year conservatorship - as documented in the 2021 film, Framing Britney Spears - was officially put to an end in November 2021, following the uprise of the #FreeBritney movement. However, the 40-year-old pop star continues to battle her father, Jamie Spears, in court over alleged misconduct during her conservatorship.
A US judge previously ordered Jamie Spears to appear in court for questioning related to his alleged surveillance of his daughter. Jamie Spears, 70, will be deposed and must also produce all documents requested by the 'Toxic' singer’s lawyers. The judge also denied a motion by the father to require Britney to face further questioning over the conservatorship.
Britney's last live performance took place during her 'Piece of Me' Las Vegas residency from 2013 to 2017. She was due to undertake a second residency titled 'Britney: Domination', but it was later cancelled, and the pop star has been on a work hiatus since 2019.
More information on the highly anticipated duet will be shared in the coming week, according to a spokesperson. Meanwhile, fans are sharing their excitement online and Britney continues to interact with her fans through social media.
