The tune is from the rising indie pop sensation's upcoming debut album.
Charli Adams has teamed up with fellow Nashvillians Nightly for her new cut ‘Maybe Could Have Loved’. The track is the latest reveal from her debut record Bullseye, which is out later this year.
The first of several collaborations on ‘Bullseye’, ‘Maybe Could Have Loved’ spotlights the depth of Adams’ remarkably relatable songwriting, as she continues to shape her growing status within the alt-pop sphere.
Tipped for major progress in 2021 throughout the press landscape, the songwriter’s musings on her early twenties, coming of age against the backdrop of spiritual evolution following a conservative, Christian upbringing, have certainly resonated amongst her fanbase, and the young singer-songwriter is attracting comparisons to revered contemporaries including Phoebe Bridgers, Julia Jacklin and Sharon Van Etten.
“‘Maybe Could Have Loved’ is about how cold and impassive hookup culture can be”, the Alabama native reveals. “I think sometimes it’s daunting to think about the future, so much that we miss out on a moment in time. Not to be lame or preachy, I’m just a bit of a romantic…but if you love someone, you should just let yourself.
"Growing up, I saw a lot of relationships fail and fall apart, so I’ve never really thought love was forever, but to be fair, I think that’s unrealistic," Adams continues. "I wrote this about loving someone while you have them instead of anticipating the ending. Essentially, as humans, we all just want to be loved.

"Jonathan (Nightly) and I have written and collaborated a lot since we met, but he’s also one of my housemates. We’ve spent so many nights venting to each other about our pessimism and the death of romance in modern dating. I think we’re both hopeless romantics, and I knew I wanted him to sing on this one”.
