With the latest Marvel movie just over two months away, Disney wants to remind you that it will own the box office for November.
Since his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes on BBC’s Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch has become a household name. He’s gone on to star in major roles for movies like Star Trek: Into Darkness, 12 Years a Slave, and The Imitation Game. With Marvel movies as a force majeure, his portrayal as doctor turned sorcerer may be his biggest role, yet.
A new teaser was released, which features new plot details and actors commenting on their characters’ roles. Chiwetel Ejiofor, who also starred in 12 Years a Slave, plays Baron Mordo, a fellow sorcerer, and Tilda Swinton plays Ancient One, a Celtic mystic who trains Steven Strange in the supernatural arts.
Doctor Strange is unique for the Marvel shared universe of movies in that it is the first that deals directly with magic. Previous films stayed in the realm of science fiction, even Thor, which portrayed Norse gods as advanced, long-lived aliens.
