Irish actor Cillian Murphy has been revealed as the new face of the Versace Icons men’s collection, launching today.
Cillian Murphy has made his official debut as the new face of Versace with the launch of the new collection campaign Versace Icons, out today.
The Oppenheimer star joined American actress Anne Hathaway in fronting the luxury Italian fashion brand. Hathaway headed up last spring’s Versace Icons women’s collection while Murphy has made his debut as the frontman for this year’s male collection.

According to the Versace website, the new line offers a “complete wardrobe of daily staples including tailoring, denim, knitwear, shoes, bags, and accessories with immediately recognisable House codes.”

Brand founder and fashion designer Donatella Versace spoke on the partnership, reportedly Murphy's first brand deal, saying, “I am thrilled that Cillian is joining the Versace family. He is truly exceptional and totally deserves his Oscar win. He is magnetic and mesmerising in front of a camera and I loved seeing him bring Versace to life.”
The new partnership comes just after Oppenheimer made its sweeping debut at the Oscars last month, with Murphy accepting the award for Best Actor sporting a custom-made Atelier Versace suit.

In a series of social media posts promoting the launch of her latest collection, Donatella wrote, “When I saw Cillian on the set of the shoot, I was the Versace man in him right away. Strong, direct and iconic! Cillian is one of today’s best actors and I admire and respect him so much. I hope you all love the campaign as much as we loved shooting it.”

The collection's first commercial draws inspiration from Versace's iconic 1990's campaign, showing Murphy in a series of behind the scenes shots from set. "I avoid the monitor when I'm making films," the actor narrated in the ad, "because it's a different character, you know?"
The commercial soundtrack, handpicked by Murphy himself, is a clip from 'Boys in the Better Land' by Dublin post-punk band and fellow Irishmen Fontaines D.C.
"Collaborating with Donatella—from sharing image references to selecting the music of Fontaines D.C. for the video—resulted in a campaign that reflects who I am,” Murphy said in a recent statement.
