Susan O'Neill's new track marks the King Kong Company member's follow up to 2020’s 'Almost'.
Emerging Irish act Susan O’Neill has dropped her brand new single today, titled ‘Give Me Good Reason’.
The production of the song was facilitated by the MISP Songwriting Bursary, which was set up by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
'Give Me Good Reason' was produced by Tony Buchen and co-written with Mick Flannery. O’Neill worked with Flannery before on 2020’s, ‘Baby Talk’ - which won Best Original Song at the RTE Folk Awards. The pair are currently working on a duet album, which is expected to be released this summer.
“'Give Me Good Reason' was a half-finished old track that I am very glad to share with you now. It was sitting dormant on a hard drive until I shared it with Mick Flannery who played piano and co-wrote some beautiful parts into the song to bring it to where it is now,” said the singer.
The song is about a torturously romantic and damaged relationship, which O’Neill yearns to salvage despite their being little hope. It features SON at her beautiful best in an emotional vocal performance.

O’Neill is also part of the lineup for ‘Dignity,’ the Other Voices’ celebration of Bob Dylan’s 80th Birthday which takes place tonight.
The singer also has a livestream scheduled for May 29th with Mick Flannery, where the pair will showcase songs off their upcoming album. Tickets for the event are currently on sale for just €15.
