Puppet band The Weirdos join Coldplay on their world tour and feature in their new music video 'Biutyful'.
Coldplay have released a music video to accompany their song 'Biutyful' with puppet band The Weirdos. The song is from their ninth studio album, Music Of The Spheres, from 2021.
The music video, directed by Mat Whitecross, starts with the alien puppet and lead singer Angel Moon receiving negative feedback at an audition. We soon see the other puppet band members facing similar hardships based on the premise of human-puppet discrimination. When the four puppets finally unite, it's by following signs reading 'R U WEIRD?' to a secret club. From there The Weirdos form and celebrate their eclecticism and talent by singing the words to Coldplay's 'Biutyful': "I hope that you get everything you want in this beautiful life / Change for your pocket, someone for the night / I hope they name you a rocket, take you for a ride for free".
The song is about coming into your own, knowing your own worth, and believing in beauty despite negative input. The group of misfit puppets not only serve as an example of this, but add a strange charm to the otherwise somewhat cliched song.
The music video ends with a shot of The Weirdos accompanying Coldplay on tour and singing to adoring crowds – puppet and human.

The Weirdos, crafted in the Jim Henson's Creature Shop, have been accompanying the band on their world tour. The visually captivating puppets first appeared in Glendale, Arizona in may of this year on stage.
Each puppet has a backstory. Here's the bands origin story according to Coldpedia, the official Coldplay fandom website:
Coming “from another planet”, The Weirdos are a young band of alien puppets composed by lead singer Angel Moon, drummer Donk, guitarist Sparkman, and keyboardist The Wizard, and are managed by Bruce Cakemix. In order to start them out, they have recorded their first song in 2021 called "Biutyful", a collaboration with British rock band Coldplay. Known for their support of up-and-coming musical acts, Coldplay made Angel Moon a regular performer on their ongoing eighth concert tour called Music of the Spheres World Tour; she has been singing with them on Coldplay's "Human Heart" and The Weirdos' "Biutyful".
