Body & Soul Festival will see 1000 Beasts and Tomike perform this weekend, as well as Róisín Murphy, Sampa the Great, Mogwai, CMAT, Pillow Queens and more at Westmeath's Ballinlough Castle.
1000 Beasts has teamed up with Afro-Irish musician Tomike for a remix of 'It's Like' ahead of their appearance at Body & Soul Festival this weekend.
Fresh from playing Primavera Pro, Cork's Cian Sweeney, aka 1000 Beasts, is back with another banger. The alternative electronic talent released his debut album, Naruda, in April, having collaborated and co-written with the likes of FeliSpeaks, Célia Tiab, LENII, Arthur Valentine, April and Orla Gartland in recent times.
Establishing himself as an artistic force that straddles the line between soulful, indie-pop and electronic music, his decision to team up with alternative, neo-soul singer-songwriter Tomike was a smart one.
Born in Dublin to Nigerian parents, Tomike has a unique and definite sound with hints of jazz; she takes influence from the likes of Erykah Badu, Sade and Amy Winehouse.
Her Stages of Love EP landed in 2019, paving the way for her entry into the Irish and UK musicc scene.

This recent collab with Tomike led to a collaboration with Body & Soul Festival in conjunction with Sounds From A Safe Harbour on their new film ÉRIU.
"Myself and Tomike were introduced via Body & Soul's Ériú project last autumn and from that came this remix," 1000 Beasts explains. "I was aware of Tomike's talent for a long time and having the opportunity to take what is such a great track and vocal and give it a 1000 Beasts spin is a real privilege. The whole thing came together very quickly, I remember I had a tight deadline for the remix but upon hearing it I just had an idea in my head of exactly where I wanted to go with it and it came together unusually quickly."
'It's Like' originally arrived in 2021, with smooth jazz mingled alongside R&B and neo-soul harmonies. Silky melodies and gorgeous, lush instrumentation elevates Tomike's voice to perfection.
1000 Beasts' touch adds plenty of electronic elements, as to be expected, but retains the heart. With a change in pace, quickening drum beats and warped synths curate an otherworldly atmosphere.
Catch Tomike opening the Hennessey Hip Hop stage at Body & Soul festival on Friday, 17th June.
