The musician has curated an unbelievable line-up of talented artists for her Here and Now Festival Tour, some of whom will feature on this limited release compilation album.
Australian musician Courtney Barnett has announced she will release a compilation album of her Here and There festival tour, with a run of 1200 cassette tapes. The proceeds of this run will benefit the US organisations National Network of Abortion Funds and Advocates for Youth.
Titled Here And There: B-Sides, Live Tracks + Demos, the tape includes live cuts and demos by Julia Jacklin, Bedouine, The Beths, Faye Webster, Sleater-Kinney, Caroline Rose, Hana Vu, and Barnett herself — a small snippet of the artists featured on the actual tour.
Along with this announcement, Barnett has shared a demo version of her These Things Take Time, Take Time song 'If I Don’t Hear from You Tonight', a contribution to the compilation.
The tapes will provide money to the National Network Of Abortion Funds, an organisation which works to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion based on racial and economic prejudice. This release will also support Advocates for Youth, which centres young people in the fight for sexual health and justice.
The Here and There festival tour was curated by Barnett as a North American trek featuring a rotating lineup of some of indie rock’s biggest names, including Japanese Breakfast, Lucy Dacus, and Waxahatchee.

Barnett spoke about the design of this festival tour, saying: "When I was a kid I would make mixtapes and dream up my own festivals, I’d even design the t-shirts and pair up musicians for iconic collaborations.
"I’d listen to the mixtape and pretend it was the live recording of a concert, all my favorite artists on stage together."
The Australian singer-songwriter disclosed the meaning behind the festival’s title, revealing: "10 years ago I wrote this lyric: ‘I got lost somewhere between here and there, I’m not sure what the town was called.’ Whether that was meant to be interpreted as a geographical, emotional, or philosophical journey, I thought it was the perfect title for my roaming festival."
Here and There "feels like a natural culmination of energy after years of touring, and ten years of working on my label Milk! Records. It’s something I’ve been forever daydreaming about, and part of an always evolving project to share spaces and build new platforms for art and artists that I believe in," the artist added.
The 15-date run of this weird and wonderful festival tour continues on through August, featuring performances by Snail Mail, Wet Leg, Bartees Strange, Alvvays, Fred Armisen, Indigo De Souza, and more.
