Culture Night will return for its eighteenth edition this September.
Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir 2023 has been announced for September 22nd, sponsored by the Arts Council in partnership with local authorities and cultural organisations across Ireland.
As part of the event, doors will open later at participating locations and free, unique events will be featured both online and in person.
Returning for its eighteenth edition, Culture Night was created as an opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity of Ireland. The festivities will last late into the night, featuring wide-ranging events from art to architecture, culture to comedy, music to museums, handcrafting to heritage, sport to science, film to fashion, dance, literature and more.
A focus has been put on uplifting emerging Irish talent and new venues across the island.
Culture Night began in Dublin in 2006, with a modest number of venues participating across the city. Since then, the event has grown exponentially, and has even held events internationally celebrating Irish heritage. Last year's Culture Night saw over 742,000 people engaging with more than 1,700 events.
"It invites everyone, everywhere, on one joyful night, to discover and celebrate all that our culture is today," read a press release. "It respects, supports and ensures the inclusion of all the diverse voices and cultures that make up Ireland today, from all sections of society and from all social backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities and traditions."
