David Bowie almost played one of the original guardians in Guardians in The Galaxy Vol.2
The late musician was approached by the director before his death in early 2016.
David Bowie had been asked to play a cameo role in the summer blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, the director James Gunn has revealed.
In live Facebook Q & A, Gunn told fans that he went to the musical icon in the hopes that he could coax him to appearing in the film, prior to Bowie's death in January 2016. While he did not specify what part Bowie would be playing, the writer/director did say he would have played one of the original guardians.
In the final product the original guardians were led by Starhawk, played by Sylvester Stallone with Michelle Yeoh , Ving Rhames and Miley Cyrus also making up the lineup as revealed in one of the film's many post-credit scenes. The original guardians were the group that preceded the line-up we see in the first and second films.
