On 1 October Glasgow band December will release their new album Barrowlands Shadowlands – a collection of U2 covers, which includes classics like ‘Running To Stand Still’, 'Two Hearts Best As One’, ’Stay (Faraway, So Close)’ and ‘Yahweh'.
The album is a follow-up to 2017’s 33, making it the band’s second album of U2 re-interpretations. The lead single 'When I Look at the World' will be released on 27 September.
The recording of the album was funded through fellow U2 fans sponsoring the recording of individual tracks over the past two years. The release coincides with the beginning of the upcoming U2 residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
December will play a series of dates in Scotland – starting with a sold-out show at SWG3’s Poetry club on 30 September – and at U2 fan gathering events in Las Vegas to celebrate the launch of the album and their latest album of original material, I Will Not Run which was released on 1 September.
December counts U2 and Bruce Springsteen as their major influences. The band got together after seeing U2’s original Joshua Tree tour in 1987 in Scotland. They have followed U2 their whole lives and released 'Alison Stewart,’ a song about U2 centred on Bono’s wife Ali, in November 2015 – with all proceeds going to benefit Irish charity Chernobyl Children International, in which Ali is involved.

The Glasgow natives released 33, a 10-track celebration of U2’s music on 1 October 2017. December has become favourites of the U2 online fan community and has been invited to play fan events worldwide – including dates in Dublin, Berlin, Sao Paulo and Tokyo.
They have also released internationally acclaimed covers of Bruce Springsteen, Big Country and The Alarm.
December consists of Ails on vocals; Paul on guitar and vocals and Scott also on guitar.
Scott expresses the band's appreciation for U2:
“We are truly grateful to U2 for their music and example. You know they could have retired to the south of France after Achtung baby and no one would have criticised them but they have continued to use their music and lives for good ever since. We’re so glad to be part of their fan community and the album is only possible because fellow U2 fans asked us to record versions of their favourite songs and sponsored the recordings. We hope it is a fitting tribute to a band we love and can’t wait to see in Sphere in Las Vegas next week.”
