Limerick musicians Denise Chaila, God Knows and current Hot Press cover star MuRli will be honoured with a Mayoral Reception this evening, June 22.

The reception, held by Mayor Daniel Butler, will highlight the trio's achievements in music and their leadership in redefining Limerick culturally and socially.

The holy trinity of the Limerick hip-hop scene have just come off a sold-out national stadium tour supporting Ed Sheeran. The tour included two nights in Limerick's Thomond Park.

Denise Chaila will return to Limerick to play King John’s Castle on Saturday, August 20 - but first the 'King of Limerick' will play Glastonbury and Longitude festivals. Her track with Ed Sheeran, the '2Step' remix, was released in late May to rave reviews.

God Knows is having an eventful week - with new single 'TWELVE 61' released on June 21. On announcing the single, the narolane records co-founder took to Instagram to give thanks to his father and father figures in his life, saying: "On this Juneteenth, Father’s Day, as I get ready to take a leap in a new direction I know I would not be here without my fathers! From Chief Mutota Makoni to CDE Dick ‘Chinx Chingaira’ Makoni to my Dad Godknows Snr I am grateful for their fight that gave us freedom! This one has my whole family’s involvement so it means so much more. I am grateful to everyone of you for giving me the permission and the power to run and be the man I am today!"

MuRli has also enjoyed *quite* the year. Between the Ed Sheeran tour, the release of his latest EP The Sky Has Windows, and a Hot Press cover; the Mayoral Reception should come as no surprise.

Chaila has taken to social media to invite fans along to the reception, which will take place tonight at 7pm at Limerick City and County Council’s headquarters in Dooradoyle.
