The Southwark venue Omeara has hosted a range of musicians, from Skepta, The Amazons and Beck to singer-songwriters Laura Marling, Sam Fender and Dermot Kennedy.

Live venues are closing at an alarming rate as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Omeara in London is no exception. The place is rapidly losing cash with the cancellation of gigs forcing them to refund tickets.

Founder Ben Lovett (of Mumford & Sons) has since started a raffle to raise funds for the venue, which artists are sharing with fans around the world. The GoFundMe page has raised over £9,400 so far, but needs to hit its £25,000 target.

Lovett created a video compiled of messages from Maggie Rogers, Dermot Kennedy and Sea Girls, each mentioning favourite memories from their time performing at the Omeara.

Irish singer Dermot Kennedy shared his support for the small, independent venue in the video:

"It's the real thing, you know, when you're playing to a few hundred people with songs that you care about deeply, that is the essence of what artists like me do what we do."

Omeara's raffle allows donators to win all sorts of prizes, food and drink experiences and exclusive limited-edition hoodies and T-shirts from designer and Kanye collaborator Louise Goldin. Facemasks from NY fashion brand La Ligne are also up for grabs.

Tickets to future Omeara shows, cocktail masterclasses, a supper club at neighbouring Lupins, and a takeover of Flat Iron Square are also included in the lucky dip.
