Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone recall their 1999 episode 'Chinpokomon'
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are acclaimed for satirizing the absurdity of the present, but might their show also be prescient?
At San Diego Comic Con, Parker and Stone revealed that they have gotten several requests to parody the Pokémon Go craze, but the two claim to have already done it.
"We did [it], in 1999!" Parker quipped, referencing their 1999 Pokémon parody episode 'Chinpokomon'.
In that episode, the Chinpokomon devices tracked the players' locations and sent their information back to Japan.
Parker joked that "[Pokémon Go] stole our fucking thing, so we're going to sue them."
The show will return for its 20th season on September 14. The show is contracted to run until at least 2019, which would make The Simpsons the only animated show to produce more episodes than the Parker-Stone series.
Though the season probably won't feature another Pokémon parody, Parker and Stone said they would likely satirize Donald Trump.
Watch the two recall 'Chinpokomon' as part of the show's 15th anniversary retrospective below.
